It is now possible to wander through the beautiful garden of the headquarters of Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD). The handover of this green space to the city took place today, in a ceremony marking the entity’s commitment to Lisbon as European Green Capital 2020.
The garden of Caixa Geral de Depósitos is a beautiful space for those who seek to escape the confusion of the city. Filled with spaces prone to rest, with its beautiful fountains and inviting shadows, CGD’s garden also invites you to contemplate art; its artistic itinerary is next to Culturgest and has in its repertoire names like Clara Menéres, Fernando Conduto, or Júlio Pomar.
At the symbolic ceremony of handing over the garden to the city, Fernando Medina, Mayor of Lisbon, said the garden would contribute to creating “an almost continuous enjoyment of parks and green areas, which help transform the way in which we enjoy the city.
The celebration was also attended by the Councillor for the Environment, Green Structure, Climate and Energy José Sá Fernandes, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of CGD Rui Vilar and the Chairman of the Executive Committee Paulo Macedo.
The garden invites everyone, including pets (the garden is pet friendly and has sanitary bags) to discover it. The opening hours will be between 09:00 and 21:00 during the summer, closing at 17:30 in winter.
