Coruchéus: Quadrum Gallery and Vertical Garden – Civic Intervening While Creating
This project combines the curricular topics common to several subjects - Mathematics, Portuguese and Environmental Study - with the exhibitions at Quadrum Gallery and the Coruchéus' vertical garden.
The thematic is first worked through exhibitions, followed by plastic arts calling on multiple creation techniques such as drawing, engraving, sculpture, photography, sound recordings, etc...
Concerning the vertical garden, during the spring and the summer children will sow and plant edible vegetable species. This will be followed by plastic arts projects about the plants covered: this project involves 7 classes with biweekly meetings and ends with an exhibition showcasing the works done by the students during the school year. The Coruchéus Primary School has a diverse population and without significant problems.
The Coruchéus Primary School is 250 meters away from the Coruchéus Complex. This proximity is an added value and allows the children regular visits to one of the most significant modernist buildings in Lisbon.
